Transit of Venus Today

Today Venus will be passing before the sun.  Even though this is an event that happens every eight years, it is rare to see it here on earth.  The next occurence will be in 105 years.

So if you are anything like me, this is something you want to witness.  I personally am going to do my best to try to take pictures.  But whenever you are dealing with the Sun, you have to be careful.  NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE SUN.  You could do some major damage to your eyes if you try to observe this event without the proper precautions.

Here is a link to an MSNBC article that tells you exactly what you can do to safely observe this once in a lifetime event.
