Disney+ just release a first look image of its upcoming live-action feature Pinocchio. The beloved animated film comes to life in September 2022 when it premieres exclusively on the streamer.
Robert Zemeckis serves as director for this tale of a wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks steps into the shoes of the wood-carver Geppetto who builds and treats Pinocchio (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his own son. Pinocchio’s guide and conscience, Jiminy Cricket, will be portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Additional cast includes Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key as”Honest” John, Lorraine Bracco as new character Sofia the Seagull and Luke Evans as The Coachman.
Zemeckis, Derek Hogue, Andrew Miano, Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz serve as the film’s producers with Jackie Levine, Jack Rapke, Alexandra Derbyshire and Jeremy Johns the executive producers.
